A definite must-have staple for the summer in any fashionista’s wardrobe is the maxi dress! You can dress your maxi dress up with some heels and a clutch, or keep it casual with some flip flops and an oversized tote!

This particular maxi dress caught my eye because of the deep navy color, along with the unique keyhole design that turns the top into almost a halter-like style.

I decided to go for a more dressed up look when I put together this outfit, with a pair of silver pointed heels, a mint clutch, and some statement earrings. I love how this maxi dress has sides that are actually slit up until the knees. It makes the whole outfit more fun a flirty, especially since you could show just a little more skin when the dress billows against the summer breezes.

Hope you’ve all found your own staple maxi dress for your wardrobes! If not, I definitely recommend you check out this one!

Express Crop Top (Similar)J. Crew Geo Print Drawstring Pants | Steve Madden Dynemite Heels (Similar) | Box Clutch

Usually, when I think of drawstring pants, I immediately put together a casual outfit in my mind. I’ve actually stayed away from purchasing this type of pants because I don’t usually see myself wearing them out. However, when I came across this pair on the sales rack of J. Crew, I fell in love with the geometric print, the light, flowiness of the silhouette and thought—hey, maybe I’d give them a shot.

These pants are unlike any other pair I have ever owned. I usually stay away from non-fitted pants because I’m a very petite girl and usually get lost in all the material. However, these pants have a good ratio between fitted and flowy, so I’m able to maintain my figure despite the less form-fitting design.

The drawstring pants are high waisted as well—so I paired them with a fitted, crop top. The high waisted feature of the pants helps elongate the legs. Throw in a pair of your highest heels, and you’ll give everyone the illusion that your legs go on for miles! Not to mention, the heels dress up the entire look, making the outfit less casual and conventional.

As for accessories, I wanted all the attention to be focused on the geo print on the pants, so I paired with a simple box clutch with gold details, a black and gold statement ring, and a spike cuff bracelet. Now this is definitely an outfit that I would wear for a night out in the city or for drinks with the girls!

Masquerade at the Met

One of my favorite events of the year are the annual formals that NYU hosts at the Metropolitan Museum. Being able to dance in the great entrance, or take a stroll around the Roman and Greek exhibitions—well, it’s not an opportunity that comes up every day.

Such a classy affair warrants the classiest of dresses. This full, flowing black dress with lace insets on the side and a sexy mermaid cut fits the Masquerade theme perfectly.

With such an elegant gown, only simple accessories are needed. A quilted crossbody, with a collar statement necklace and starburst earrings to polish off the look.

Nights like these call for a dress that was only meant to be worn once.
